Even though they had built the properties using in-house teams, they ran into hurdles when their insurer failed to properlycalculate the claim reserve. Ironclaim was hired on October 10th andsubmitted all 30 claims on December 24th. The entire settlement wassecured by July of the following year for an increase of 1,036%.
When two large resorts were damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria,Ironclaim was hired to handle the entire claim portfolio. After bringing in numerous inspectors and engineers, the insurance company initiallyoffered a $17 million settlement. Ironclaim inspected 400 rooms acrosstwo islands in one week, and established a proper reserve at the policylimit of $60 million. Ironclaim set strong parameters for documentrequests in the business interruption RFI, keeping the claim moving as itchanged adjusters’ hands on the carrier’s side until the final settlementof $52 million was reached.
When a leak in a fourth-floor bathroom unit caused damage to 32 otherrooms, this hotel reached out to Ironclaim to help. We were able to getthe insurance company to replace the carpeting not only in the affectedhallway, but also in the unaffected parts of the building too. Plus, wehad all carpeting replaced in the 32 affected rooms, reversing a decisioninitially made by the carrier.
